Why
Lions remain dedicated to vision awareness? Answer!
Lions Clubs
International, the largest service organization in the world, was founded on June 7th, 1917 by a young insurance
salesman named Melvin Jones. To become a Melvin Jones Fellow is one of the
highest honors in Lionism. What is Lionism?

The Lions remained without a unified focus until the 1925
International convention in Cedar Point, Ohio when, as the keynote speaker, Helen Keller (Life Story) delivered the inspirational
speech changing the direction of Lionism forever. After her presentation, Lions were
compelled to adopt the cause of blindness and vision related activities. Still today,
Lions remain committed to be her "Knights of the blind in the crusade against
darkness" through International Association's Objects & Ethics as we practice the motto
"We Serve".
